Age Thrive Campaign

Our goal is to support individuals so thoroughly and in such a personal way that their focus broadens from survival to renewal.

At AGE, we improve the quality of life for older adults and family caregivers by supporting the passions that make them thrive and not merely exist. We provide the services, support, and innovations that enable Seniors to fully engage their minds and bodies. With the support of AGE, Caregivers can offer their loved ones the care and support they need as well as gain precious personal hours for themselves to emotionally rejuvenate and lead a full life outside of their caregiving role.

Given the increasing number of people who desperately need our support, the Thrive Campaign will expand our capacity to serve and foster innovations in care that will change how we serve our vulnerable populations.

South Austin Facility Construction

Construction of AGE’s new state-of-the-art facility in South Austin began on June 7, 2022 and is set to be complete in 2023. An opening date for the facility will be announced when available.

Any donations made to the Thrive Campaign now will be used to complete construction and will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the St. David’s Foundation!

Want to take a hard hat tour at the new facility? Email Jayden Beatty at JBeatty@AGEofCentralTX.org.

The external walls and bricks are continuing to take shape and the parking lot is being prepped for asphalt. Updated May 16, 2023.

Aging Challenges in Central Texas

For Older Adults:

Despite its reputation, Central Texas is home to the second fastest growing older adult
population in the country but remains ill equipped to meet their growing needs.

The number of older adults living in poverty has increased 42% in Central Texas over the last 10 years. The majority of our aging neighbors are concerned about their ability to afford the price of living or quality care.

An older adult falls every second in the United States and the rate of individuals diagnosed with dementia or memory loss is rapidly increasing.

Financial strain and lack of access to needed resources and care is threatening their ability to age in place with the dignity and compassion we all deserve.

OLDER ADULTS LIVE IN POVERTY

For Family Caregivers:

41% of Central Texans are or will be a caregiver in their lifetime. Family caregivers hold families together and enable loved ones to get the most out of life, but they often feel unsupported and overwhelmed. Up to 60% of caregivers exhibit signs of clinical depression due to the toll of stress caused by caregiving.

2/3 of older adults rely exclusively on family members and other informal helpers for care.

The annual cost for a private room in a nursing home is over $80,000 and the cost of assisted living is close to $55,000. In Central Texas, a range of high-end options exist for older adults who are able to pay, but there is a lack of affordable care.
